My thoughts come in lines from songs.

“And if you make me laugh, I know I can make you like me. ‘Cause when I laugh I can be a lot of fun.”

I’m in the market for some good books to read. Any suggestions?

The Brothers Karamazov, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky
Anything by A. A. Milne
The Republic, by Plato (its actually very interesting and has some great thought provoking material that all Christians should think about…)

I’ve read The Brothers Karamazov, and I think I’ve read everything by A.A. Milne (though I could read them again and never overdose). I should read Ender’s Shadow, because I loved Ender’s Game. I should also read Plato. Thanks for the tips!

Love, Momzy

The Literary Digest …

Oh boy do I have some suggestions for you:

Fiction:

1) A Prayer For Owen Meaney – John Irving
2) Cowboy Feng’s Space Bar and Grille – Stephen Furst
3) Cities of the Plains – Cormac McCarthy
4) 9 Stories – J.D. Salinger
5) Timequake – Kurt Vonnegut
6) Big Bad Love – Larry Brown
7) The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Universe – Douglas Adams (any of the series)

Non-Fiction:

1) Ava’s Man – Rick Bragg
2) All Over But the Shoutin’ – Rick Bragg
3) The Blues Route – Hugh Merrill
4) On The Road – Jack Kerouac (some question as to whether or not that’s fiction)
5) The Art of War – Sun Tzu
6) The Tao of Pooh – Benjamin Hoff
7) Te of Piglet – Benjamin Hoff

Hmm … that’s just a brief omnibus. I’ve got more where that came from, just need more time to think on it. Happy reading!

Hmmm, to what you have been recommended I guess I should add…

A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole…and if you liked Catcher in the Rye at all…read The Neon Bible also by Toole.

If you like sci-fi/historic at all…Tatham Mound by Piers Anthony is a splendid read.

Hmmm, past that I would say play in the children’s section of your library. There are wonderful books abounding there.

I was going to say…

A Confederacy of Dunces but Ragamuffen beat me to it.

There are so many good books just published! I have a stack of them I need to start.

I’ll gladly share with you if you want. We mustn’t let good books sit idle.

Re: The Literary Digest …

Yippee! Thanks. This should keep my busy for a while. When I run out, I’ll ask for more.

I’m making a list! This is great. I’d much rather read books that others have screened and recommended than just picking up something cold turkey and hoping it’s good.

I know you’re a connoisseur, so I appreciate the input. :o)

Thanks for the confirmation . . .

and the offer! I’m usually clueless about “just published” books. I gravitate toward classics. Maybe you can educate me. :o)
