Kiss me and smile for me

Tomorrow George and I are “leaving on a jet plane” — flying to Seattle for a week. In keeping with the time-honored tradition of dressing up in costume for Halloween, on the evening of October 31st, George will enter the nerd-u-lizer chamber and transform into . . .

THE WORMINATOR!

Yes, it’s true. October 31 marks the beginning of that long-awaited, highly anticipated event: The Something-or-Other Soil Science Convention of Seattle. I will be joining him (in Supermodel costume, of course) for the opening night’s events. Far be it from me to let the hottest worm guy west of the Mississippi wander alone amidst, um, people who like dirt. Yeah. But after that, he’s on his own, partly because I’m not invited to anything else, and partly because, well, just because. You figure it out.

Monday morning George is scheduled to present the findings of his research dealing with earthworms at the no-longer-a-military facility, the Longhorn Army Ammunition Plant, located near the lovely swamp known as Caddo Lake — a soil scientist’s paradise.

While he geeks out, I plan to frolic in one of my favorite cities! I adore Seattle. My current novel is set there, so I spent a whole week last June researching its delights. Of course, the most delightful delight of them all is our daughter Grace. We haven’t seen her since she flitted off to Barcelona mid-July. I can’t wait to see her pictures, her new apartment, her adorable SELF.

I. AM. STOKED.

George doesn’t have to attend all the meetings, and he’s already planning to ditch the evening ones in favor of accompanying me in the aforementioned frolicking. Believe me, people, we will be partying like a middle-aged worm guy and his wife. I hope Seattle is ready for this.

I’m also looking forward to seeing LJ friends Steffy and Traci (and Steffy’s painting. Woo.)

I’ll probably do a little writing while Grace is in class and George is making mud pies, so I’ll be sure to drop by LJ and check on all of you. Be good, kiddies. Don’t eat all your trick-or-treat candy in one sitting.

And don’t forget to vote. (Cue Forrest Gump) “That’s all I have to say about that.”

say hi

Please say HI to Seattle for me, Jeanne. And tell Geo that earthworms abound there. They are long, long, long!
