I listened, and as I listened, I prayed. His pain touched places in my heart few ever reach. Even now unhurried tears flow silently down my cheeks. Tears for a brokenness I know must be lived through one breath at a time.

And yet, all is well. All is infinitely well. The sun passes over the earth like the flaming hand of a priest pronouncing benediction. Morning, noon, evening, night. The miracle of a world spinning through space, and yet so common we forget to look up and be amazed.

The story has been written, and what will be, will be. I trust this certainty more than the canonical journey of the sun. But each chapter must be lived, page by page, word by word. We can’t skip the difficult parts. And we don’t get a sneak peek at the ending. It is enough that the Author knows, and we know the Author.

The story has been written. I will not forget. Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning. I will look up and be amazed.

Words of Comfort

I loved these words. I have been at the point of living through brokenness one breath at a time. What a comfort it is to know that there is someone else who has been there before, who will listen without judgment or advice, but with a heart of compassion, who can say, “…yet, all is well.”

Keep on,
Craig.

Thanks, Allen. I really am fine. It’s just hard to stand by and watch someone you love hurting. But I also know from my own life that pain, like a surgeon’s knife, may not be pleasant but isn’t always an enemy, either.

You’re a good friend. Thanks for caring.

Thanks, Ragafriend. I know you would do anything I asked. So I’m almost tempted to call and say, “Come over right away!” Then when you arrived I would serve tea and have that face-to-face chat we’ve put off too long.

But I am fine. Truly. If I could I would stand between certain people and their pain, but I know I would be wrong to do so. Instead I’ll keep loving and praying.

All is and will be well. I am assured.

Sometimes all we can do for those we love is to pray and care. Its great to know that God has placed you in this position at this time. He is the ‘Father of Lights’ who knows what our needs are and has a perfect plan for all of us.

Thanks, Emma. Sometimes it feels prayer is the air I breathe. And each breath is a gift.
