Thank you, thank you!

Jeanne, you’ve got me wiping tears away! How beautiful–just the song you sang at MH, and just the way I remembered. I’ll play it when I pray, and when I write, and I’ll always think of you! ~Katy

How timely….

I found your song to be very calming and a real comfort to me. I downloaded it and listened to it just before leaving to join my 2 sisters for lunch. They took me to birthday lunch yesterday at Red Lobster. On our table, in front of the empty 4th chair, my sister Rebecca placed a small framed photo of our smiling mom and lit a tiny vanilla candle in honor of our mom who died this past June of cancer at 67yrs. We had promised her we would light a vanilla candle at all special gatherings after she went to heaven. All 3 of us immediately burst out crying as our waitress walked to our table. It was our first girls outing without her. Your song came to my mind and I shared it with them a little bit to help gain composure. And then again tonight, Rebecca called me, quite upset -Today was a hard day…trying to deal with Mom’s departure from her life and now adapting to Dad as a single man. After about 10mins.. I asked her to take a deep breath and get a cup of tea and close her eyes…And I played your song over the phone line –all the way through. – afterward, she sighed and said, “Yeah, I just need to let go…”It ministered to her like it has me, Jeanne. So your song continues to speak into hearts as it must have yours when you wrote it. Once again your family has touched mine. Thanks.

Then play it at bedtime, and it will take you back to long ago, when innocent eyes gazed up at me from a rosy, little face–warm covers tucked under his chin–and sweet, pink lips selected a good-night song.

Only now a man’s eyes–the blue depths of which can no longer be fathomed with a glance–set in a rugged, stubbled face, close in weariness at the end of a day a thousand miles from here.

A thousand miles in distance, yes. But closer than a prayer to my heart. I still sing to you, my love. Every day.

Re: How timely….

Thank you so much for sharing this with me. Please tell your sisters they can download the mp3 from my blog and have their own copy. I’m so blessed to think it encouraged and comforted you and Rebecca.

You should know, though, that I didn’t write Jacob’s Song. When he was in a coma, one of George’s students wrote it. Her name is Debbie Squyres Boatright. She makes her living as a musician, but she gave me permission to use this song in any way I want to. She said it came to her like dictation, and she considers it God’s property.

I hope that, even though the day was hard, you know you’re loved and your birthday was special.

Love, Jeanne
