If you’re local (and by local, I mean you live somewhere on or within a several day’s journey of one of the seven major continents), I want to invite you to come see the musical She Loves Me at East Texas Baptist University this Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and/or Sunday. I’m serious. Call and reserve your tickets today. You won’t be sorry. In fact, I’d go so far as to say you’ll leave feeling blithe and buoyant–like you’ve just indulged in the finest vintage bottle of Sparkling White Grape Juice.
Much to my honor and delight I’ve spent the past five weeks working on choreography with these charming, talented performers. If they’ve enjoyed the process half as much as I have, then they’ve reached their legal pleasure quota for the year. This is a Baptist school, after all. (Heh. Just threw that in for all my wonderful Baptist friends. You rock. With utmost decorum, of course.) I really do love watching shows come together and feeling like I can bring a small contribution to the table. And I love discovering how art inspires and informs art. For example, as the actors began owning their roles, I realized the director’s methods for drawing out excellent, motivated performances could be applied to character development in a novel. (I wrote about that in greater detail here, if you’re interested.)
So, yeah. Come. And I promise I’ll let you get your picture taken with my entourage of French poodles. I will have an entourage of French poodles. It’s in my contract, dahling.
See you on the red carpet! ♥
